Super Nova Marketing Solutions has had the pleasure to sit down with one of our valued team members, Melissa Rosario! Rosario is a Senior Corporate Trainer on our team and spends each day elevating and bettering our organization. She joined our team a year ago and we couldn’t be more lucky to have her. This month, we held an exclusive Q&A session with Melissa to discuss life, business, and success.
Where are you from?
“I was born in the Dominican Republic, in a small town called San Pedro de Macoris. I was raised there until I was fifteen years old.”
What were you like as a kid?
“My parents would describe me as a sweetheart. I was talented, always positive, and to my mom, I am still a baby.”
Were you involved in any sports or extracurriculars?
“I played soccer, basketball, softball, and did gymnastics back in high school. I was also in the school choir and the National Honor Society.”
How did that competitive environment shape you?
“I’ve always been very competitive, and to me, it’s not all about winning or being better than others, but being a better version of myself. Being in a competitive environment pushed me to be better, be more of a perfectionist with things, and to strategize and develop my growth.”
Did you have any idea you would end up in this field?
“I had no idea, but I am grateful I did. This field has opened so many doors for me, and has made me who I am now.”
Tell us about your college experience.
“I am currently doing online classes through Southwest Tennessee Community College and plan on transferring to Strayer University. I am majoring in Business Administration.”
Where did you work before joining our team?
“I used to work at an attorney’s office as a secretary. It wasn’t fun at all; sitting down all day is not for me.”
What is one life experience you feel has shaped you?
“There are plenty of life experiences that have shaped me into who I am. The main one was moving to a different country. It helped push me out of my comfort zone and taught me to be independent and confident. It is definitely a journey that’s not over yet.”
What is something we might not know just by looking at you?
“A lot of people don’t know that I’m twenty years old. They usually look surprised when I tell them. People say I act older and carry myself in a mature way.”
What were your first thoughts when joining the company?
“I was super shy and nervous, but I thought, if they can do it and they’re so young, I can do it too. I also noticed how unique the culture was and how many good friends I was going to find.”
How would you describe the culture at your company?
“The culture at my company is amazing. These people are basically my family; everybody wants nothing but the best for each other. We love to have a great time, both inside and outside of work, and we have so many vibrant and different personalities in our office. Everybody brings a positive attitude to every situation.”
What has been your best memory with the company?
“I have many memories that I’ve enjoyed, but the one that I recall the most was attending our client broker’s National Conference this summer. I not only learned a lot, but I also had so much fun. It gave me a better understanding of what the business is about, and how big this opportunity is.”
What have you learned through your work that you didn’t know before?
“I’ve learned about empowerment, leadership, teamwork, how important it is to care about others, and that growth never stops.”
How has this career changed you?
“This career has changed me for the better. I’m more confident in myself. It has helped develop my people skills and has taught me perseverance.”
As for her goals, Melissa’s sights are clear. “My goal is to make the most out of the experience and let hard work speak for itself,” says the leader, “I want to be my own boss and be a great leader for my team.” Rosario thanks her mentors and her team for contributing to her growth. “My mentor is God first, my mother, and my partner in crime, Jeremy Hardrick, who all push me to be better every day. I also enjoy learning something new from anyone that has a great message to share.”
